JOPLIN GLOBE: 2nd New Newspaper in Carthage MO – “We wanted to show the people of Carthage what we could do with a local newspaper not run by a large corporation”

CARTHAGE, Mo. — Six weeks after The Carthage Press closed, leaving the community with no hometown newspaper, it now has two.

The Carthage Chronicle launched shortly after the 134-year-old paper closed, offering subscriptions as well as free limited mailings. The Chronicle is published by Sarcoxie Publishing Co., which also owns The Sarcoxie Record, the Pierce City Leader-Journal and Carl Junction’s Jasper County Citizen.
