Dallas News: Playwrights working on a play about journalism say it’s already changed them

Playwrights Janielle Kastner and Brigham Mosley are embarrassed to admit where they used to get their news. Kastner followed folks on Twitter, she says. Mosley used to rely on Buzzfeed, a New York-based internet site that tends to post catchy lists, quizzes and celebrity news.

Then they got an offer they couldn’t refuse — a commission to shadow Dallas Morning News journalists and write a play inspired by what they learned.

The project, supported by money from The News and Ignite/Arts Dallas at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School for the Arts,  transformed the writers’ media consumption. While they’re still not sure what shape the play will take, they have made a change in the sources they trust
